To celebrate National Volunteer Week, here are some snaps from December’s The Fine Art of Schmoozy of some of our fantastic event volunteers looking very stylish—by Amelia Chiew.
Latitude 53 Member Pam Wilman Leads Students to Create Public Art
Over 120 students have collaborated to create a public work of art for the City of St. Albert’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

With the guidance of Schmoozy donator, Latitude 53 friend and art teacher Pam Wilman, the students helped to paint 150 tiles for a mural at Ecole Sainte Marguerite d’Youville.
Wilman worked closely with fellow artist Lewis Lavoie to design the work, which pays homage to the Grey Nuns, and the worthy contributions they have made to the city’s development.
The Overwhelming Success of Schmoozy
The Fine Art of Schmoozy has come and gone once again, paving the way for 2012 and a host of exciting events in the New Year.
Latitude 53 would like to express their most heartfelt thanks to all that took part in this amazing event. It would not have been possible without the help of many dedicated organizers and volunteers.

The show was a sell-out and well over 300 people were in attendance. All items that were donated for auction were bid on and sold. Delightful cuisine was provided by local restaurant sponsors and music from some of Edmonton’s top artists created a soulful and intoxicating rhythm for the evening.

Important Message Regarding Schmoozy Tickets
Latitude 53 would like to extend a great big thank you to all for the sensational response to The Fine Art of Schmoozy!
We regret to inform you that tickets for this event are now sold out; however, we will hold a limited number at the door on a first come first serve basis - Doors will open at 8 p.m.
Unfortunately we will not be able to reserve or take any ticket orders over the phone and the paypal site has now been closed.
Change-over time!
Today we unfortunately have to take Maria Whiteman and Karen Zalamea’s wonderful work down off the gallery walls to start getting ready for Saturday’s Schmoozy. But because the photographs and video aren’t too much trouble to install, we’ll be keeping them tucked away in a back room and returning them to their former splendour next Wednesday—so you’ll have a final chance to see them before they come down for good after the 17th.
And in the mean time, you’ve still got a chance to pick up advance tickets for Schmoozy until Friday—but tomorrow the price goes up to $35.
The latest three artworks to come in for Schmoozy: Andrew Buszchak, Gillian Willans and Brenda Draney.
Here’s some more of the great art that we’ll have up in the silent auction this Saturday for Schmoozy—from Gabe Wong. See the whole list.
