Toronto artist Rita Kamacho performs “Vibrations Imprints” at Visualeyez 2009, handing out tiny bottles of specially-labeled water to the public in a downtown Edmonton park. Visualeyez is Canada’s only annual festival of performance art, and the 2010 edition takes place September 15–21 with a theme of Food. Visit latitude53.org/visualeyez for more information. Edmonton artist and recent RBC Painting Award recipient Brenda Draney talks to Latitude 53 about her show at the gallery and her recent residency at the Banff Centre. Made up of oil and watercolour paintings produced largely since finishing her MFA at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Draney’s “Hold Still” delves into fragmentary memory and moments of clarity.
