Dear Latitude 53 Blog:

I miss you. Since beginning my international adventure in August, I think of you often. What is happening in Edmonton? What is showing at Latitude 53? How much am I missing? It’s strange only being on Facebook in the dead of Edmonton’s night, seven hours removed.

(If you weren’t a reader six months ago, I sadly left Latitude 53 in August to follow my heart to Scotland and live vicariously through the other half of Institute Parachute who is enrolled in the lively MFA program at the Glasgow School of Art.)

Things are well with me. I write to tell you a little bit about the world beyond Canadian shores. A sort of opposite to the writer-in-residence, a writer from away. I’ve been summoned back to the internet by Latitude 53’s Todd Janes to tell you some choice details on my life in Glasgow.

Ah: but you are well-read and well-connected. “You’ve been scooped!” Calgarian Scott Rogers is here too, and yes, he did already tell Canadian Art about going to school here. But have no fear: my story is different. Over the next couple of weeks, I hope to tell you all kinds of things: about the “Glasgow Miracle” and Artist-run Culture in the UK, about some other Canadian artists who are here, and a bit more detail about what it’s really like.

I’ll also be on hand to help keep this blog extra-fresh every day, from abroad. So leave me a comment. I hope you like it.

Love, Adam
