A great letter from artist Sara Wookey and her choice to not participate in a recent re-performance of Marina Abramović’s performance proposal for the Los Angeles MOCA gala earlier this month.

One of the things often on our minds is the question of artists and professionalism. We’re very lucky in Canada to have a set of principles underlying our artist-run movement about what artists should and should not be expected to do. But it’s still something that we constantly ask ourselves, whenever we interact with the community and see other art projects happening around us. The ideas of honest support and seeing situations from the artists perspective are coded into Latitude 53’s underlying principles.
